There are numerous ways to use this wiki you can:
- Search for a particular keyword, in the search field at the top left of the page. This is helpful if youareyou are looking for a particular author or category list. If you already know your way around you can search using a tag (e.g. Classics), an author's last name (e.g. Austen), or a book title (e.g. Dragon Prince). This wiki does full text searching so you can search for any words such as part of a title or anything else you can think of.
- Browse through the lists, by going to the navigation bar to the left and chooseing a category (e.g. Classics, Mystery) or browse through the alphabetical list of all the authors on this wiki here. Don't forget to take a look at our Triva Facts and Links pages. There are a lot of fun tidbits and websites for you to explore.
- Categories are genres of writing such as fantasy or mystery. Each major category has a home page where authors are listed in alphabetical order by last name with their books listed in publication order under his/her name.
- Lists are the primary purpose of this wiki. These lists vary from author to author. For example, Dickens wrote many novels which are not considered to be part of any series so his books are featured in publication order. Anne McCaffrey, on the other hand, has written many novels that fall within different series. Therefore her novels are broken down by series and then the books within the specific series are listed in publication order.
- Author Pages have brief descriptions of author's lives. This is where more detailed or alternate lists are located. Additionally, this page contains links to websites that offer more information on book series or authors, such as Sue Grafton's official author website.
- Debates (Discussion Form) abound over the preferred reading order for many series such as Redwall and The Chronicles of Narnia. This is what discussion threads are for. Please always conduct yourself with decorum if you disagree with what order is on the main category home page (this is the one most people will see) and the ones are secondary on the individual author home pages. If an agreement cannot be reached, the administrators will step in and choose which order will stay on the main category home page and what one will only be viewed on the individual author's page. Be happy that that different lists are represented on the wiki in the first place and just agree to disagree. Remember you can always politely state your preference on you profile page.
- Profile Pages are where you can put some information about yourself. You can also post a referred order to a books series, if you do not agree with how they appear on a category page. Your page is also a great place to put a list of books you plan on reading, so it will always available for you!
