Interesting & Unique Facts: Dickson, whose full name wasGordon Rupert Dickson, was born in Canada, then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota as a teenager. He is most famous for his Childe Cycle and the Dragon Knight series. He won three Hugo awards.

Gordon Dickson was as influential as Robert A. Heinlein in the creation of the sub-genre of military space opera; his Dorsai! is of much higher regard than Heinlein's Starship Troopers.

The Dragon Knight series, which places a contemporary adventurer loose in a magic world, is at once comical and ethically complex.

Dickson suffered from asthma for much of his life.
